Yup, that's it, retainage. I guess people charge up front for the cost of not seeing their money for a year or so. It seemed bizarre to me. In my biz I work on a lot of projects where other sub contractors are involved but I fully expect to get paid in Net 30 (expectations aren't always met). I guess there is a lot more finger pointing on a construction project than there is on a brochure.
