Farouk, Chris & Avi: I am new to the world of options, but I have been doing a little homework lately. I guess that I am a bona fide threat to myself now!!! Chiron (CHIR) is splitting in about a week 4 to 1. Chiron has been in a trading range lately between 84-87. Today's IBD show's the Oct 85 call at about ten bucks. What do you guys think about a strategy to buy 500 shares pre split for example. Waiting for the split and a potential run-up of a few points and then writing covered the Oct 85 calls. This seems likes a defensive way to try to bank 20% in 2 months.
