You have hit the nail on the head, my friend. The "church" in Jesus's day thought they were righteous and were very pious, like some here. But Jesus said they were hypocrites with rare exception. And today I think we have a similar situation. The Church is deceived. And there is coming a destruction. I think the Church is the harlot that rides the beast in Revelation. Most Christians believe the "pre-trib" theory of the rapture. So when the beast comes and the mark is forced they will not believe it is the mark and will take it. And of course those that hear the voice of the Lord will not take the mark and most of them will be martyred. But the rest will be harlots riding the beast, turning over their brothers thinking they are doing it in the name of God. Totally deceived about their own righteousness just as the Hebrews were deceived when Jesus came as a man. There won't be any pulling together until the Church is tested by fire (persecution).
