Grace, RE: "No, they aren't naively interfering. They are assuming that they know better"
The issue is IP theft, not your rather naive assumption China's gov't is doing this because think they know better.
Based upon experience by my friends (not involved in wifi, but involved in other things and projecting their experience out), I'd say China is assuming they can steal IP.
Because until today, China has always gotten away with it.
I say it's high time the USA has a full blown trade war with China, if this is the only way China will be convinced to enforce their IP theft issues. China needs to enforce their IP laws.
Our hightech companies may need to reshift their market focus more onto India, Africa, Middle East, maybe back to Malaysia, South America - until China cleans up its IP theft issues and starts enforcing them.
I think most everyone in the USA, including investors, have reached the end of their patience with China's IP theft issues.
RE: "Huawei "
It's really ironic Loring's article (that fatty posted here Message 19905261 ) mentions Huawei. Huawei stole some of Cisco's IP.
Loring is a liberal and anti-war too, like myself, but geez, doesn't he recognize IP theft when it smacks the USA in the face? Does his hate extend way, way beyond anti-war, to hating ALL of the USA, possibly projecting his hate to any USA company that protects their IP ??? His article (that lists out the possible reasons) doesn't even mention Intel's reasons for their concern. Go figure. But he sure has "his own" reasons.
