My position is that those terms should have nothing to do with the issue of taxation and that the political rhetoric of the left employs those terms to foster class warfare and to garner votes among those who would be unaffected by tax increases and who would likely benefit from increased spending on social programs. i've been following your taxation "fairness" posts, m (which are great, btw)... understand though, this is where we are... "fairness" and taxation as is couched in liberal leftist terms is just as you have articulated, a basis for class warfare and buying votes. (and holding the payees hostage) if fairness were the goal (not political power and extortion) a flat tax or national sales tax would be implemented, obvious "the rich" would pay more whether as a function of gross income or purchases... but of course that would eliminate the tool which is the "hook" of the vote pandering of the leftists...
