Hey Bob, You make some very valid points. Tax policy is very complicated and I like your approach of starting with a goal: " ... tax system yields the greatest income for the national use."

I also agree that "fairness" is a political judgement. But I couldn't resist quoting Bush<G>.

If someone started a tax policy thread, I would post some ideas.
