I would agree in general that the settlements are a barrier to peace. Though I don't believe they have anything to do with blowing up restaurants and buses. Settlements have existed for decades and the recent bombing era began when peace agreement loomed which would have eliminated most settlements.

Odd facts: Did you know the settlements were built mostly with Palestinian labor and some of the cement and other construction materials have been bought from Palestinian companies?

Can you really say Israel has a presence in Gaza only because they want to prevent terrorism in their own country?

I'd say because Arafat didn't make peace in 2000. Gaza was going to be part of the Palestinian state.

And I'd attribute their periodic military incursions into Gaza to terror fighting, yes.
