Ibexx, before the Internet, and sites like SI,(which btw, is the best stock site in the world), investors were limited to the media for desemination of information, ideas, and opinions. The media had(still has) the power and control to influence stock prices. I believe this is wrong, and that the Internet and SI bring a needed equalization to investors never seen before.
However, one must keep in mind, that this new medium is new, and current laws are ambivalent and vague regarding all this.
