Trufflette: OFF TOPIC

Northern California is paradise and is vastly less expensive outside of this insanity in the Valley. I think it's better than Dallas. The real estate costs are incredibly hyped, in my town the same house and same lot costs 200,000 more a mile away because the high school is perceived to be slightly better. Either my house rises or those houses sink in value, eh?
If his salary is high enough it might be worth the move, as long as it compensates for (a) cost of housing, (b) state tax, property tax, gas tax, etc tax (c) loss of friendly folk like you find in Dallas (you can live here for decades and never meet your neighbor). People move to the Valley because it's possible to make small fortunes on stock options and retire independently wealthy after a few years, and those who land the right job at the right time are glad to be here. It's really a wonderful place for patent law as we have the West Coast branch of the USPTO here in Sunnyvale with videoconferencing facilities and library, and the influence of several law schools including Stanford. Another good place for patent law (and lots of other stuff) is San Diego, and housing prices are still depressed, this is a good time to move there and I think it will turn into a major high-tech center.
It's comforting to know I have some bearish company.
