During the California recall election, Buffett was on Candidate Ahnold's economic advisory committee. When Buffett wrote a very clear, accessible Op-ed piece in the L.A. Times about how screwed up California property taxes are ("a young couple who buys a house for $300,000 in California today has been selected to subsidize me, a billionaire, with higher property taxes than I pay on multimillion-dollar Orange County mansion"), Candidate Ahnold told him to shut up and "do 500 situps". Ahnold flashed the little space between his front teeth as he said this, to indicate he "vas only choking". Buffett, however, wasn't heard from again until after the campaign was over. The populace understood the choke, and elected Ahnold Governor so he could "fix the problem" by borrowing $15B in their name while they went about the business of subsidizing Warren Buffett. No biz like show biz. --QS
