Personally, I have never felt raising taxes accomplishes ANYTHING good for the average American. There are probably some economists on this board with more recent information then I have. But, I did major in Economics eons ago in College (had two majors acctg & econ.) and I learned something about the $$ multiplier effect. The bottom line is a $$ in the pockets of the citizenry and spent by them circulates something like 6 times more then a $$ spent by the Govt. Its been too long ago for me to explain why but the bottom line is this: We get MORE BANG for the BUCK, if you and I spend it then if the Govt. spends it. Anyone more knowledgeable then I is free to comment. jdn
