Hi NightOwl; No, I don't think that there is a "war" on terror, I use the phrase because the President has used it so much that it's part of the vernacular.

I don't think that there is a terror war any more than that we are involved in a war on illiteracy or drugs. The number killed is too small, there is no military participation, etc.

The war on terror isn't even a "police action", it's just police activity. Furthermore, it's not something that is new to our society. We've had people blowing each other up in this country for well over 100 years.

War is when you have armies maneuvering in the field. As an example, consider the recent election of George W. Bush. There was considerable argument about the voting, but it was all settled by OWLYERS, not SOLDIERS. Compare this to the similar situation when the Democrats supported Douglas against Lincoln. The resulting WAR killed something like 600,000 of our SOLDIERS. (And a few owls were hurt too.)
