If he didn't want to disclose, he shouldn't have made the claim.

He had a choice. Trumpet the claim, or keep his mouth shut.

He chose to trumpet the claim. When you do that in the political arena, you're expected to give some more evidence than simply "because I said so."

The alternative is that these things were said to him privately and he doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut about confidential matters. Which is a VERY scary attribute in a potential President.
