This is the amazing part about geneology on the internet. Once somebody posts a tree, anyone else can tap in to it. I had a similar experience. Another big benefit is getting acquainted with people you are related to and be able to share history neither of you knew in common. Message #64 from Ann Corrigan at Mar 12, 2004 4:39 PM The Mormon family history centers are spread throughout the country as well. Their website includes the entire 1880 census plus microfilmed church records, global family trees, civil war records, tombstone inscriptions, etc. Last Nov I typed in my ggrdfather's name & pulled up his entire family tree back to 1720. It was compiled by a relative (unknown to me at the time) who is descended from his brother. She identified each generation (including ggggrdmothers' maiden names)from church records & censi. It was an awesome genealogical find for me. Evidently my father's ancestors lived for centuries in Nottinghamshire, UK....on the western fringe of Robin Hood's Sherwood Forest. Genealogy is fascinating & often leads to most amazing discoveries.
