Kerry is not trusted so his "story" is not believed by many. He should not have made the comment if he was not going to back it up. Kerry has to make a decision between disclosing the identity and thereby jeopardizing the existing relationship with the US, or to forgo any advantage he wanted to gain stating what he has stated.
