imo al quaeda does not understand the US imho. <g>
Perhaps they were trying to influence the Spanish election and their understanding of europe may be more accurate. Yes Spain was/is strongly anti-terror with the notable exception of israel/pal for some of their media and left wingers. But the populace was/is strongly anti-iraq war. Thus al quaeda may be trying to drive a wedge between europe and the US and also trying to effect the spanish, not the US, election. Given the incumbants reluctance to label this an al quaeda attack a day before the election, there might be some efficacy to the quaeda pov here.
As far as the US goes, Bill printed an article about how most americans thought kerry was the choice of al quaeda. But the numbers bely the fact that some of the most will vote for kerry anyway. Why? Because some americans are so naive as to believe that kerry/democrats could negotiate a deal with bin laden. And i would suspect that the deal that these misguided folks are talking about is the old isolationist one but this time toward the mideast. We will leave you alone and wont do anything in the mideast and you leave us alone here. A recipe for disaster imo. mike
