Combine that with better education and retraining. Benign neglect wont work for bush and meeting these issues head on with small compromise on taxes and defense of free trade that the average american will understand is a good thing.

We are going to spend more on "better education and retraining" and get neither, of course. Not until that whole area is restructured, which is not going to happen as long as the country is closely divided politically.

We need smaller Government. The Republicans have got one part right, less taxes. But they won't quit spending. It looks like the Senate is going to push taxes up slightly, which is a political mistake. The Dems can then say the Republicans are admitting they are wrong.

Bush was the strongest on Free Trade this week that he has ever been. He and Kerry are on exactly the same "Free Trade" page, but Kerry is waffling to get votes.
