Prudhoe Bay lies west of ANWR and the Canadians allow development along ANWR's eastern border. Neither the Prudhoe Bay area nor the Canadian Arctic is an environmental hellhole.

Drilling should be allowed in all areas not protected by law or where an accident could devastate the eco-system, fisheries or beaches

An accident could damage the eco-system everywhere in the US. If this isn't true, just tell me where you think an accident wouldn't be damaging.

BTW, an accident would be damaging the eco-system offshore TX, LA, AL, and MS - the only states where offshore drilling is allowed. Based on your statement, I can only conclude you oppose oil and gas development there.

Also I would point out that most major oil spills have involved tanker accidents. Now it so happens that all oil imported into the US is transported on tankers exactly like the Exxon Valdez. Would you favor banning tanker traffic from American coastal waters to prevent accidents?
