I have no problem with preparing for changes in the oil supply. I just think that the majority of the preperation should not be done by the government or because of government regulation. The private sector effort is scattered and consequently, has had limited success. Plus, some of the companies with the biggest R&D don't have the proper motivation......like GM. Ford just announced they have to buy Toyota's hybrid motors because once again, American companies got caught on the wrong side of the oil issue. Gov't can oversee and direct the process and provide a system of rewards to encourage substantive progress. Gov't can also impose conservation efforts to help us get to self sufficiency faster. I didn't post it but yes, we need a national energy policy. The private sector has failed us on this issue. ted
