The main obstacle to getting off oil dependency are Bushies, the oil-gas lobby which is 100% behind Bush-Cheney and vice versa. Once Bush is beaten they will be beaten too (finally) and we can start regulating them and making them play fair and honest.

The McCain-Kerry CAfe standards bill will start by saving us more oil than is in all of Alaska. Then we can get really innovative and put hydrogen, hybrid, wind and solar generators and engines everywhere we can. Who needs the old oil-burning furnaces or the gas guzzler SUV's? They can already build far more efficient machines, they just don't have the incentive to yet. The eventual cost savings of this will be huge. It will also create hundreds of thousands of new jobs and will unite us with our allies again in a united effort to get this job done. In the meantime we can hopefully use some of that Iraqi oil we just spend a half trillion bucks to "liberate", without being gouged for it by the Bushies.
