Loantech,

Moved from San Diego (Cardiff) three years ago due to a job relocation and promotion. My taxes in California were very low because I purchased my home back in 1988. Gotta love prop. 13. I was paying less then $3k on a $250k property (1988 price). In 2000, my property taxes were still under $4k.

I wouldn't put money back into California real estate. It's nuts, the place I sold in 2000 is now worth over $1 million. jeez....

It's only a matter of time until prop 13 is overturned. I beleive the way property is taxed in California is the number one reason the state is in the mess it is in today.

As born and raised Californian, I beleive the state is screwed and glad I got out. Miss the beach in Cardiff though...
