Same message by every candidate since the first oil embargo. When will the urgency increase to the point that there is an actual plan and one that is implemented?
It certainly won't be easy for Kerry to implement any plan with a Republican Congress. All I'm saying is that past precedent is an uncertain guide to the future, and certainly to Kerry's intentions.
I'm suggesting that much of the current bash is pretty meaningless....it takes away from the real issues that could elect Kerry, such as the extreme influence of the religious right, the emphasis on invasion of privacy and life styles, military and defense efficiencies and economies, disincentives of the IRC for an efficient economy, the troubling deficits (trade and budget) and many other economic issues.
That's different. I agree that no energy issue will make a serious difference in the election. But then, I don't think the issues you list will make much difference either. Insofar as real issues will matter, I think jobs, Iraq, and conceivably the deficit, are as much as the electorate will grasp. I say "real issues" in light of the Republican attempt so far to make the election about "flip-flopping," being soft on terror, and other such concoctions. |
