LOL. (I know you don't like 'LOL,' but the alternative is smilies....How do you NYT types convey that nuance?)
People just have to cope. In the Times Books Forums, it's culturally forbidden to use emoticons. You're supposed to incorporate intonations into words, I guess. In the political forums, anything goes, but the books forums look down on the political forums because they're riddled with RW ravers. Books forums people deem themselves genteel.
How did you type out the code for italics and have it actually show,
Put a space between characters. < space i space >
But you can click on my E in any post of mine and it will take you to my profile page,
But, E, first I have to find a post of yours through Search, which doesn't work.

So far, that's all beyond me. Now be quiet.
SI Yay. NYTimes, Boo.
Très drôle. How come there are so few forums here, and they're so duplicative? President George Bush. Impeach Bush. Impeach Kerry. Kerry For President. Bush For President. Bush Lies. Bush Lies A Lot. Kerry Lies. How's a person supposed to know where to post? |
