Unfortunately I did horribly in Mr. Wipf's physics class. I think it has to to do with the number of variables (contingencies?) and their relationships with each other at the big bang. He even divides the first second into fractions and looks at a razor thin interval of time, one trillionth of a second, and all that had to be going on just so to result in what we see today. The odds of that happening are like hitting a 1 inch target light years away. I think he is trying to say something like that. 'No free lunch' must refer to providing a serious explanation, which for Polkington is God. I think that's what he's saying.
