JC,
So what happens in the US in october if bin laden thinks he can influence elections?
Also re: spain--news reports say a vast majority of apaniards was against the war in iraq so it is not surprising that they would vote in the other party. But without the attack, they probably would kept the conservatives in because they trust the instincts of the capitalists over the socialists. But when they smelled a possible coverup and remembered the iraq war which they op0posed, the went the other way.
So getting back to my question, would an october attack in the US help bush or hurt him. CW says we would rally to the president. I dont fully believe that anymore. I dont think bush is going to win anymore anyway. In reality he lost the last election and if by election day iraq doesnt appear to be settled in a positive way and/or jobs have not returned Kerry will win. In fact, kerry may need only one of the two things to happen. My hope is that the real kerry is not the one who has positioned himself at the far left of the dem party--the one who wants tax rates back at 2000 levels, the one who thinks protectionism solves anything, the peacenik who expands the anti-iraq sentiment to letting up in the war on terror. Spanish socialists may give us a hint if they try to deal with al qaeda. mike
