Remember bill that most europeans and about 50% of americans did not consider the war in iraq part of the war on terror. The true test of this new regime and those in the rest of western europe will be whether this attack propels them to increase anti-terror activity. Pulling out of iraq doesnt automatically mean that they wont be vigilant in anti-terror activity.
However if appeasement is in fact the result, it will historically be the equivalent of munich. I am betting that the french will lead the anti-terrorism movement in europe and that prior to the US election chirac and bush will mend fences. Because there was disagreement on iraq, does not mean that the lessons of the last 60 years have been lost. Mike
