From LaVanguardia today...excerpts of victory speech...I left out what's already been posted here about Spanish troop withdrawal.

Interestingly, after first paying tribute to the victims(very nice PC move) he said that his winning is not a result of the peoples' knee-jerk reaction to the A-Q link of 11M...that his party had known even before 11M that they would prevail...meanwhile outside his headquarters during his victory speech, demonstrators were heard screaming..."Don't let us down, don't let us down."

A bit of ambivalence among the voters? He needed to be defensive regarding the validity that he was elected based on 'him' and not A-Q attacks.( my opinion)

The following is my translation without my editorial...look at last sentence...I left the Spanish so other readers can verify my translation...as I find his speech "repugnante" as the spaniards would say....

In addition he said: "Bush and Blair will have to reflect on their autocratic tendencies so that they not make such(autocratic) decisions again. One cannot bomb a city "just in case", nor bomb a country "just in case" and they can't orgazize wars with lies. It just can't be."

Spain will return to it's traditional foreign policy, as regards: Europe, Latin America and the Mediterranean and he(Zapatero) feels that the electoral results changes the relationships of power within europe, and internationally. And that his(Zapatero's) immpression is that he will be able to impact the results in the November U.S. elections between Bush and Kerry
