re: <China executes 10,000 people a year>
If I was a citizen of China, then I'd be speaking against that government's habit of solving problems by killing people. I'd be speaking against the oppression, killing, and colonization by Han, of the Tibetan homeland. And I'd be speaking against their executions.
But I'm not Chinese. I'm American, I pay (a lot of) taxes to the American government, the army of my country is waging (another) war of aggression (in Iraq, this time), and the American government is running a concentration camp in Guantanamo. I am more responsible for (and have a greater ability to change) the crimes of the American government, than the crimes of the Chinese government.
The above, is what I have always said. I refuse to join you, in your cheerleading of hatred for Others. I see their evil, and I see our evil, I see little difference between them, and I condemn them equally.
If I was a citizen of China, I'd probably already be in jail, or dead. If America continues on its present course, I expect at some point I will end up in an American jail. |
