Because "its all in the editing", as Arundhati Roy says so well in her essay, The New American Century. When you criticize China for their executions, while ignoring America's enthusiasm for executions, you are selectively choosing which government-organized killing to focus on, and which to ignore. And you do this, very consistently. It is what allows you to think of yourself and your tribe/nation as Good, while supporting the exact same things you criticize Others for doing. Its all in the editing. Oh, I noticed that weasel-word you used, "excessive" (as in, "excessive executions"). Do you know how many Americans have recently been released from death row, because new technologies (especially DNA "finger-printing") proved their innocence?
