Aha. I've finally found a fault in a Brooks column.

He said this: " it was crazy to go ahead with an election a mere three days after the Madrid massacre."

And then he said this: "If a terrorist group attacked the U.S. three days before an election, does anyone doubt that the American electorate would rally behind the president or at least the most aggressively antiterror party? "

That suggests that he wouldn't have us postpone our election under the same circumstances. I presume that's because he thinks that an attack would help his guy win, which wasn't the case in Spain. If it's crazy to go ahead with "an election" in Spain, then it would be crazy to go ahead with one here.
