You've got a point. But where were these analysts back in Oct when the company announced the restatements? Is it not their job to Analyze the company they are covering? Shouldn't they get in FRONT of these events?

To know that a company and its auditor screwed up in their accounting process requires the analyst to essentially be involved in the process, which they are not. That's like asking the guys who handicap sports in Vegas to know which athletes are going to try to throw a game. The only ones who know there is something screwy going on are the guys involved. And they seem to be getting paid leave at the moment.....

It's always easy to downgrade after a decline like this. It's the SAFE thing to do.

No, I don't think the downgrades have anything to do with the share price decline, and everything to do with improper accounting. Like I said, the analyst probably developed a positive view using the past financial statements (among other things). When the statements are declared invalid, the view should go to "I have pretty much no idea about this stock", which translates into a Sell or Neutral rating, certainly not a Buy.
