ARMS/TRIN is a measure of market strength.... it's ratios are taken from ADV/DECLN of volume and issues.... Nothing More -- Nothing Less It's useless for "Market Timing" or as an indicator for "Trend Reversal".... It checks the Internals like your mechanics tune-up computers... It tells you if the market is being pushed past it's Mid Point up or down. Nothing that happened in 1941 or 1946 or at any time in which ARMS puts out a 2.50+ reading has any significance other then recording an extreme count. Richard Arms was fond of playing with 10--21--100--300 DMA of open Arms, if you follow them... you'll see they don't correlate at all with any tend reversal.... they mostly fall within trends. Volume and issue changes record activity.... Period....!!!! Players like Eliades, Stack, and others who use TRIN as a market timer for entries and exits display their ignorance by doing so.... and their second rate trading records prove it....! These Markets are 3 Dimensional....NOT LINEAR Timing Market Cycles correctly can be done with Spirals and other measures of Chaos... IMO...AFWTW Don's uses CLX volume studies... he calls the "boiler room"... His ewave counts and his Intuition.... are the real magic...! GZ uses forks, bar patterns and a 25 day cuml sum.... His Spirals and Intuition.... they are the real magic...!
