All that happened was that what was ALREADY BEEN HAPPENING under Clintons watch, kept going for 2 more months under Bush (after about 10 months of same under Clinton), and presto chango an official recession was born. Get real, or keep us LOL'ing, your choice. Wait a minute. I think you need to get real. In the 80s there was a real sense that US manufacturing and ingenuity was on the decline. The 90s and the tech revolution changed all that. The US economy pretty much clobbered Japan for the following 20 year period, the tech industries esp. software created new industries and (more importantly) allowed the US to try to regain some of the businesses we lost decades earlier. We see this in TVs today for example, Intel now making chips for TVs, even though the USA lost consumer electronics years ago. What Bush inherited was a cyclical recession. Bush DID NOT inherit a nation on the decline, economically speaking. The damage Bush has done to the US economy is the stuff of history books. Hopefully the Kerry team gets in and makes some immediate changes in the trade laws and outsourcing before all is lost and the US economy reverts to a 70s mindset.
