No I didn't misunderstand your question. I answered it.

The choice between saving the zygote and saving the human child or alien child would be an example of making distinctions within the category. The distinction would be less strong then distinctions between entirely different categories, but such distinctions could still be made. I would save a zygote ahead of a rose or a turtle.

To give you a more directy answer (which is obviously what you are fishing for) I think it is likely that I would value the life of a currently sentient being more then that of a zygote. I also feel I am done with the "who would you save game" for now.
