I'm not an international trade lawyer, but I am told by one who is that if we were to demand that China revalue the yuan or we will add tariffs on their products, and they don't, and we do, we will most likely be sued in the World Trade Organization, found guilty of violating WTO rules, and fined, in top of having to refund all the tariffs.

Now, if you want us to unilaterally abrogate treaties and international agreements that we don't like, that's your right. But a trade war would not be to our advanatage, IMO. And certainly it would violate many of the principles of the Democratic Party platform, which Kerry will be running on. Indeed, the DP tends to be more, not less, supportive of international organzations (like the UN and World Court) than the Republicans.

So, do you want us to violate international law, or not? Just be clear on that, please.
