an appropriate American response to outsourcing was to press India and other countries to open up to imports of American investments, goods and services.

I believe it is happening rather faster than expected, based on what I saw on my current trip, compared to my previous trip in 2001.

- I could draw cash from a Citicorp ATM anywhere in India, based on my US bank account (which is not with Citicorp).
- At hotels where I stayed, I was asked if I prefered a Sam Adams at the bar.
- When I rented a car, I was offered a choice of Avis or Hertz.
- Go into the grocery store, you can get Quaker Oats.
- MickyD's, Pizza Hutt, Dominos were there in 2001.

Seemed to me, that much of these were an outcome of folks returning 'back home' after spending time in the western world, and creating a demand for such things.
