Saltwater tanks have a bacteria balance that has to be developed and you start out slow just adding one fish at a time. Half of everything you put in dies; I am told, especially in the beginning. Since there is a big mortality rate, you start out with the less expensive fish like clowns. Once the ecosystem is established it is supposed to get better. I know you don't change out as much water or as often, but you have to use a saltwater mix to make it up.
