Dr., I have same problem with #2 computer. HDD not recognized, Insert Boot disk. Since I have cover off computer, I shut down, touch some bare metal on case, reach in and jiggle all the IDE connectors. Some times I find a loose one, usually not, don't know what's going on but on reboot things are OK. Perhaps remove all cables, IDE, Floppy and Power, and reseat, maybe/maybe-not. Good Luck.
