Bushies lie when they say the energy crisis was "market driven". It wasn't. It was market RIGGED, FIXED and TIMED to coincide with the election. It was also payback time on two fronts. Payback time to Texas energy contributors for Bush-Cheney ("go ahead guys, gouge the hell outta them") and payback time to hit rich California which isn solidly democrat. The move also allowed Bush-Cheney to pose as energy experts who would fix the problem, undermined the argumetns of conservationists and gave the Bush-Cheney energy bill plans a headstart, their plan to use tax-payer money to build 1300 new power plants and drill everywhere including wildlife refuges and marine preserves. It was the second biggest deregulatory ripoff of all time, and the only one engineered by one party from one state, the GOP Texans.
