I agree with your thoughts, and IMO so many factors can change "the equation" as to the price of oil, and these factors seem to have the ability to change daily or even hourly.

When I first invested in several stocks in the oil and energy area....I thought I was investing in an area that wouldn't be as volatile as technology. I now realize that the energy sector can be extremely volatile, and specific world news seems to play an important role in the volatility of this sector.
