I think what you are suggesting is possible... maybe one good argument against it is the abundance of ED-looking formations on 15-30 min charts - just where one would expect a wiggle wave 5 of the recent carnage. If the orthodox low was last Friday, as you suggest, the outlook is bearish... if the low was yesterday, we should have at least a brother leg up after a consolidation (speaking of which... an almost 11% one day crash in VIX certainly does call for a "consolidation")
