Nope. Wasn't gonna happen. The Clinton/Rubin recession shocked them, but they chose to propagandize it because the presidential season was on. The focus of this administration of liars was an obsessive: How can we blame this MAJOR screw up on the Republican , if he gets in? The point you concede is that TALK of "paying off the debt" is propaganda fodder tailored for ignorant patsymckees-nothing else. EVERY attempt by ANY administration to actually knuckle under to the cat burners and do it has resulted in economic disaster. The is ONE, and ONLY ONE way for a government to stimulate economic growth: Cut taxes-AT THE MARGIN, and ON CAPITAL FORMATION. It's as natural as water flowing downhill, and all arguments to the contrary are reduced to political pandering to morons. As to the latter, it fits you like a glove...
