Re: Is it correct that the Florida democrats were in charge of the count in those areas of the so-called "chad issue" in the year 2000? Didn't the media tell us that?

One, the recounts were being done on a bi-partisan basis.

Two, the media clearly told us that Terese LaPore was a Democrat in Palm Beach County and that she was responsible for the notorious butterfly ballot design.

Where the media completely let the American public down was in describing the malicious fraud perpetrated by Sec. of State Katharine Harris and Gov. Jeb Bush in using a company called ChoicePoint to deny 57,000 voters their right to cast a ballot. This fraud involved the manipulation of voter roles and the scrubbing of large numbers of black voters from the roles on a variety of fraudulent pretexts. You are familiar with this situation, are you not? You have read Greg Palast's brilliant reporting on this matter, right?

In addition, over 1,000 complaints about voter intimidation, voter disenfranchisement due to harassment of voters over spoiled ballots, surreptious relocation of polling places and other election irregularities were filed by the NAACP and others. Unfortunately for the citizens of Florida, John Ashcroft's partisan Department of Justice became the plaintiff in this case against the State of Florida. The DoJ consolidated the case to three complaints. And 18 months after the election, the State of Florida stipulated to the charges late one Friday afternoon after the close of business and the fact that Florida admitted to de-frauding the voters of Florida became a much neglected item on the back pages of the newspapers with George Bush's intermininable war mongering seizing the front page. Neat way to trick the public, eh?
