I didn't hear the cries of hungry children during Clinton's 1996 campaign.

If I am reading that chart correctly, in November of 1996 unemployment was 5.4% when Clinton was re-elected and 5.5% in February and March of 1996 and 5.6% in April and May 1996.

Presently the unemployment rate is 5.6% and improving.
