Ivanhoe shares rise on analysts' applause

VANCOUVER, British Columbia , March 17 (Reuters) - Shares in Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (Toronto:IVN.TO - News) leapt as much as 12 percent on Wednesday as votes of confidence from two analysts helped stem a slide of nearly 40 percent in the company's value this year.

Directly addressing recent share price weakness, GMP Securities analyst Larry Strauss said in a note to clients that none of the market's reasons for the drop in Ivanhoe's shares altered his view of the company, which plans to build a mine at a huge copper and gold deposit in Mongolia.
