Lied? What if he exaggerated? Worse yet, what if he simply had really bad judgement, a sense of righteousness, and a sense of a God-given mission to crusade? However you want to look at it, he failed miserably in the final test; the test of whether time and events showed the ability to lead wisely or the tendency to lead foolishly.

That's why we get to choose all over again every four years. He had his chance and now it's time for a change.
