Hi Kumar,
As angry as i get with chirac sometimes i still hold to the view that there needs to be a European entity with muscle. So far they talk the talk but have not walked the walk. Democracy does not guarantee pro-US policy and thats not bad. But when you are in a world war with terrorists, you need big guns too or else when you get yourself in some difficulty you cry Uncle and hope that your Uncle is not too pissed off to come to your rescue. Fault lies on both sides of the Atlantic. Nadine and C2 are both right in some respects but i suspect that its time for Uncle and EU to reconcile and for EU to take on their responsibilities like grown ups and the US to react to different views with more of an open mind. Mike
PS I have a question for the thread. Knowing what we know now about iraq, would it have been more prudent to concentrate more on al quaeda and continue containment in iraq. Perhaps we would have had more success over the past 12 months doing this and the iraq question could be dealt with now or shortly. Mike
