You see me as a terrorist sympathizer, because I consider Tribalism to be an obsolete Meme. Anyone who clings to an obsolete Meme, in the face of a changed environment, will go extinct. In the age of the Global Village, with nuclear weapons technology steadily spreading, Tribalism (whether defined by race, religion, nationality, language) is no longer Fit. My argument is utilitarian, not moral.
For you, Tribalism is the Highest Morality. And you cling to the illusion that Tribalist methods (the methods of the Book of Joshua) solve problems. By your standards, I am immoral, cowardly, and getting a free ride (letting myself be protected by the virile American Tribalists).
By my standards, the actions of all Tribalists (Us and Them) are equally insane. It is not to my advantage, or to the advantage of Americans in general, for my nation to act in the world, in a way so several billion people hate me.
The Spanish are showing us, how to defuse Tribalism: simply be a Good Neighbor. Protect yourself (your own citizens on your own soil), and quit reaching out into the world and killing Others (under any pretext). |
