His 'more police' rhetoric did not stop Khobar Towers...USS Cole...African Embassies....Ok City....etc
Clinton's 'more Police on the street' was a typical Demo re-election ploy. It was a one-shot financed deal, and excited, and fooled the public. Clinton 'feels our pain'. As it turned out the Police Chiefs throughout the country were not so dumb. Realizing, if they hired more officers at approx. $100,000.00 per officer per year, and since the money would not be available the next year, they would then have a huge layoff, they concentrated instead on technology to make the individual officers more productive and safer. Lap top and in-vehicle computers. Bullet proof vests, tasers, better armaments(high powered rifles and Berettas) and other improvements, programs to search out and store the records of individual criminals, and communications. Not so dumb these Police Chiefs. At the top there were approx. 50,000 to 60,000 new officers hired, not the 100,000 Clinton promised but failed to finance, and many of these, for the lack of funds, subsequently, have been dismissed. Very few municipalities retained their new officers. Most are long gone, but the technology goes on. Of course the public was blissfully un-aware of the failure of the program, although some cities did vote enough funds to continue the program on a limited basis.
Merely another Clinton Democratic Demogogue failure.
