Who are we doing violence too? Surely not "everyone else"? The Dutch, the Hottentots, the Patagonians? Even in Iraq, we are mainly fixing the country and keeping them fed. A nation is a stage of human organization, and has not so far been transcended, for practical purposes. "Patriotism" is a way of feeling one's stake in the progress of one's country. It may be chauvinistic and destructive, or it may be a matter of good citizenship and democratic vitality. How in the world would you know, even if I were "nationalist", if it were my Highest Morality? You presume too much......... Now I really will take a break from engaging with you.......
